Thanksgiving

I got to know what Thanksgiving is about, I have come to Portugal now where they don’t know what it is.. So here is my Thanksgiving. I’m thankful that I am different and I can help others, I am so thankful for my family and friends!

Be happy with your difference

Being happy with your difference
Is not easy to do at times
But you are who you are
Be great full for you have
Because there are people
Worse off than you!

I’m a mentor

I’m disabled but I don’t want my life’s work to be about my disability. Yes, at times it can be hard to see others do things which I can’t. But isn’t everyone like that? You don’t see people naming their accounts “walking so on” so why do people who are disabled seem to make everything about their disability, I am not saying that don’t tell people about your disability but it is not the only thing you are! I’m a mentor for mental health because everyone else is so focused on everything else but mental health that whoever has doesn’t want to talk about it: just because they know how others react to any of mental health as a joke but it is not. I think it’s worse than having a disability because they can’t see depression or bipolar and all the other mental health issues there are. This is why I think we should not only focus on what is going on with us. I understand being different is not fun, you can do more or. Is it just me that just wants to do good for others?

Disabled parking permit

You know how sometimes things doesn’t make sense, I use a wheelchair; so that means when I go out. I need to park in the handicap parking lot so I have room for someone to help me get into my wheelchair. Now in Portugal you have to go to a government doctor so they can tell you if you’re disabled enough to get it: even though it’s more annoying because I have been here for 2 years now,it does make sense. Coming from Colorado, getting a disabled parking permit was as easy as going to your doctor and saying that you have a broken leg and you have a permit.  Yes I know there are so many kinds of disabilities: but if you are going to ask for it, don’t make up that you are disabled.
